AI Usage Disclosure

1. Overview

Lisle.ai uses artificial intelligence to help you understand your finances, answer questions about your financial data, analyze documents, generate tax estimates, and surface insights about your financial patterns. AI is a core part of the Lisle.ai experience, not an optional add-on.

We believe you should understand exactly how AI is used with your data. This document explains which AI models we use, what data is shared with AI providers, what data is never shared, how AI outputs are generated, the limitations of AI, and your rights regarding AI processing of your data.

We use AI to assist you, not to make decisions for you. Every AI-generated output in Lisle.ai is clearly labeled as AI-generated, and we encourage you to verify important information with qualified professionals before acting on it.

2. AI Models Used

Lisle.ai uses two AI services from two providers:

Anthropic Claude

Provider: Anthropic, PBC (San Francisco, CA)
Purpose: Conversational AI for financial questions, document analysis, insight generation, offer letter analysis, and tax scenario explanations

Claude is the AI model that powers the Lisle.ai chat experience and generates written analysis throughout the platform. When you ask a question in the chat, request analysis of an uploaded document, or receive a proactive insight, Claude is the model producing that text. Claude is used for:

  • Answering your financial questions in the chat interface
  • Analyzing uploaded documents (tax returns, pay stubs, offer letters)
  • Generating explanations for tax estimates and projections
  • Producing proactive financial insights and action items
  • Analyzing and comparing offer letters and compensation packages

OpenAI Embeddings

Provider: OpenAI, Inc. (San Francisco, CA)
Model: text-embedding-3-small
Purpose: Converting your financial data summaries into a numerical format that enables relevant context retrieval for AI conversations

This model does not generate any text you see. It is used behind the scenes to help Claude access the most relevant parts of your financial profile when answering your questions. See Section 5 for a plain-language explanation of how this works.

3. What Data Is Sent to AI Services

When you interact with AI features in Lisle.ai, the following categories of data may be sent to our AI providers:

Sent to Anthropic Claude (at query time)

  • Your question or prompt. The text you type in the chat, or the context of a feature that triggers AI analysis.
  • Monthly transaction summaries. Aggregated spending totals by category for relevant months (for example: "Dining: $1,240 in March 2026"). These are summaries, not individual transactions.
  • Account balance snapshots. Account names and their current balances (for example: "Checking - Chase: $12,450").
  • Your financial profile. Key profile information including household income, tax filing status, state of residence, number of dependents, and equity compensation details.
  • Budget and spending pattern data. Your budget targets, spending trends, and cash flow summaries when relevant to your question.
  • Uploaded documents. When you use the document analysis feature, the contents of your uploaded documents (tax returns, pay stubs, offer letters) are sent to Claude for analysis.

Sent to OpenAI (for embedding generation)

  • Monthly financial summaries. The same aggregated summaries described above are converted into numerical representations (embeddings) for context retrieval.

Important: Data Is Sent With Context Controls

Data is not sent in bulk. At the time you ask a question or an insight is generated, Lisle.ai selects only the portions of your financial data that are relevant to the specific query. A question about your tax estimate does not send your full spending history; it sends your income data, filing status, and relevant deduction information.

4. What Data Is NOT Sent to AI Services

The following data is never transmitted to any AI provider:

  • Individual transaction details. Specific transaction amounts, merchant names, transaction dates, and transaction descriptions are never sent. Only monthly category summaries are shared.
  • Bank account numbers and routing numbers. Your account numbers, routing numbers, and other account identifiers are never included in data sent to AI providers.
  • Plaid access tokens. The encrypted tokens that allow Lisle.ai to retrieve your bank data are never shared with AI providers.
  • Authentication credentials. Your Lisle.ai password, session tokens, API keys, and any other authentication credentials are never sent to AI providers.
  • Social Security Numbers. If SSN data is present in uploaded documents, Lisle.ai applies redaction before transmitting document content to AI providers.
  • Other users' data. AI requests for your account only include your data (and your household partner's data, if household sharing is active and relevant to the query).

5. How AI Outputs Are Generated

How Your Questions Get Answered

When you ask a question in the Lisle.ai chat, here is what happens behind the scenes:

  1. Understanding your question. Lisle.ai receives your question and determines what kind of financial context would be helpful to answer it well.
  2. Finding relevant context. Using retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), Lisle.ai searches through your stored financial summaries to find the ones most relevant to your question. The system uses numerical representations (embeddings) to find the best matches — like a librarian who understands the topic of your question and pulls the most relevant reference materials.
  3. Sending to Claude. Your question, along with the relevant financial summaries, are sent to Claude. The AI also receives instructions from Lisle.ai about how to respond appropriately, including requirements to include disclaimers, avoid giving direct financial advice, and clearly distinguish between facts from your data and general financial education.
  4. Generating the response. Claude produces a response based on your question and the provided context. This response is streamed back to you in real time.
  5. Storing the conversation. Your question and the AI's response are saved to your Lisle.ai account so you can reference past conversations. The response is clearly labeled as AI-generated.

How Proactive Insights Are Generated

Proactive insights (the alerts and action items that appear without you asking a question) are generated through a similar process. Lisle.ai periodically analyzes your financial data patterns using rules-based logic and AI analysis to identify observations that may be relevant to you, such as unusual spending patterns, upcoming tax deadlines, vesting events, or changes in your financial metrics.

6. AI Limitations

AI is a powerful tool for organizing and understanding financial information, but it has significant limitations that you should be aware of:

AI May Produce Inaccurate Information

AI language models generate responses by predicting likely text based on patterns learned during training. They can produce statements that sound confident and plausible but are factually incorrect. This includes incorrect calculations, fabricated rules or thresholds, and misapplication of financial concepts to your situation. Always verify important information independently.

AI Is Not a Substitute for Professional Advice

Lisle.ai's AI features are designed to help you understand and organize your financial data, not to replace qualified professionals. AI cannot evaluate the full complexity of your personal circumstances the way a CPA, financial planner, or attorney can. For significant financial decisions involving tax strategy, investment management, estate planning, or legal compliance, consult with licensed professionals.

AI Cannot Predict Future Market Conditions

AI has no ability to predict stock prices, interest rate movements, inflation trends, or other market conditions. Any projections or scenarios that include market assumptions are hypothetical illustrations, not forecasts.

AI Outputs May Not Reflect Current Laws

AI models are trained on data up to a certain date. Tax laws, financial regulations, and compliance requirements change regularly. The AI may not be aware of the most recent legislative changes, IRS guidance, or regulatory updates. Lisle.ai's tax engine uses versioned tax rules that are updated separately from the AI model, but AI-generated explanations and insights may reference outdated information.

AI Has Limited Context

The AI operates on the financial data available in your Lisle.ai account. It does not have access to information you have not provided, accounts you have not linked, or financial details that exist outside the platform.

7. Data Processing and Retention by AI Providers

Anthropic (Claude)

  • No training on your data. Anthropic does not use data submitted through the API to train or improve their models.
  • Limited retention. API inputs and outputs may be retained by Anthropic for a short period (up to 30 days) for trust and safety purposes (abuse monitoring and compliance), after which they are deleted.
  • Data processing location. Data is processed on Anthropic's infrastructure in the United States.

OpenAI (Embeddings)

  • No training on your data. Lisle.ai has opted out of all OpenAI data-sharing settings. OpenAI does not use data submitted through the API to train, fine-tune, or improve their models.
  • No API call logging. Lisle.ai has disabled OpenAI API call logging at the organization level. OpenAI does not store or retain the inputs or outputs of Lisle.ai's embedding requests.
  • Embeddings only. Lisle.ai uses OpenAI solely for embedding generation (converting anonymized financial summaries into numerical vectors for search). OpenAI does not generate any user-facing text in Lisle.ai.

Lisle.ai Data Retention

  • Conversation history. Your AI chat conversations are stored in your Lisle.ai account and are accessible to you. They are retained as long as your account is active.
  • Embeddings. The numerical representations of your financial summaries are stored in Lisle.ai's database and refreshed nightly. They are deleted when you delete your account.
  • Insight history. AI-generated insights and action items are stored in your account and can be reviewed in your insight history.
  • Account deletion. When you delete your Lisle.ai account, all stored AI data (conversations, embeddings, insights) is permanently deleted from Lisle.ai's systems.

8. Behavioral Analysis and Proactive Insights

How Behavioral Data Is Used

Lisle.ai analyzes your financial behavior patterns to generate proactive insights. This analysis includes:

  • Spending pattern analysis. Tracking spending by category over time to identify trends such as increasing spending in specific categories or deviations from your budget.
  • Income and cash flow patterns. Changes in income, irregular income timing, and cash flow trends.
  • Financial milestone detection. Events such as large deposits, equity vesting events, or approaching deadlines (estimated tax payments, option expiration dates).
  • Lifestyle creep detection. Comparing your spending growth rate against your income growth rate.
  • Savings and net worth trends. Your savings rate and net worth trajectory over time.

Values Profile Disclosure

Lisle.ai may build a financial values profile based on your spending patterns, stated goals, and interactions with the platform. This profile is used to personalize insights and prioritize the types of observations surfaced to you. Your values profile is:

  • Derived from your financial data and interactions within Lisle.ai
  • Stored within your Lisle.ai account
  • Used solely to personalize your Lisle.ai experience
  • Never shared with third parties or used for advertising
  • Visible to you in your account settings
  • Deletable at your request

How to Opt Out

You can control behavioral analysis and proactive insights through your account settings:

  • Disable proactive insights. Turn off all AI-generated alerts and action items.
  • Disable behavioral analysis. Turn off lifestyle creep detection, spending pattern analysis, and values profiling.
  • Adjust notification preferences. Control the frequency and types of insights you receive without fully disabling the feature.
  • Delete your values profile. Request deletion of your behavioral profile from your account settings.

Opting out of behavioral analysis does not affect your ability to use Lisle.ai's core features, including account aggregation, tax estimation, equity tracking, budgeting, and on-demand AI chat.

9. Your Rights

Access Your AI Interaction History

You can view your complete AI chat history, including all questions you have asked and all AI-generated responses, through the chat interface in Lisle.ai. You can also view your proactive insight history and any AI-generated analysis performed on your documents.

Delete Your AI Data

You can delete your AI data through your account settings:

  • Delete individual conversations. Remove specific chat conversations from your history.
  • Delete all AI data. Clear your entire AI interaction history, including chat conversations, generated insights, behavioral profiles, and stored embeddings.
  • Delete your account. Full account deletion removes all data from Lisle.ai's systems, including all AI-related data.

Opt Out of AI Processing

You can limit AI processing of your data:

  • Disable AI chat. Your financial data will still be aggregated and displayed, and tax estimates will still be calculated by the tax engine (which does not use AI).
  • Disable proactive insights. Stop the system from proactively analyzing your data and generating alerts.
  • Disable behavioral analysis. Stop the generation of spending pattern analysis and values profiling.

Note: Core platform features (account aggregation, tax engine calculations, equity vesting schedules, budgeting) do not require AI and will continue to function normally if you opt out of AI processing.

If you believe an AI-generated recommendation, insight, or analysis is incorrect or has led to a negative outcome, you can request a review by contacting our support team at support@lisle.ai. Human review does not constitute professional financial, tax, or legal advice.
